Florence Bonnard,[1] commonly known as Flo Bones, is a relic-girl and an acquaintance of Anthony Lockwood.

Flo Bones was seen first when she was approached by Anthony Lockwood and Lucy Carlyle after Lockwood decided to ask her about information on Jack Carver. She has helped them ever since, though her relationship with Lockwood stretches much farther back.

On the Netflix's Lockwood & Co. TV series, Flo is portrayed by Hayley Konadu.

Biography (chronological)[]

(Partially told in Book 2, fully told in Book 5:21) Florence Bonnard, at the finals of a fencing competition, bested Anthony Lockwood who earlier bested Quill Kipps at the quarter-finals. (The same event started Lockwood and Kipps' rivalry due to Kipp's humiliating defeat.) The competition's winners were always from Fittes or Rotwell; but that time, Lockwood, under Sykes, won against the competition's favored competitor, Quill Kipps from the Fittes agency. And the winner, Flo Bones, was from another small agency.

She was a promising apprentice of a two-man agency of Sinclair & Saones (Susan Sinclair and Harry Saones). One night in a chapel, the team were surprise-attacked by two limbless. The two partners were killed. Florence survived by taking an iron cross, going to a corner, and wedging the cross to cover herself. She was trapped the whole night with the limbless trying to get to her and her companions lying dead near her.

That event changed Florence. She was done being an agent even after efforts from Lockwood to help. Flo Bones eventually became a relic-woman.

Years later, Flo Bones was approached by Anthony Lockwood and Lucy Carlyle after Lockwood decided to ask her about information on Jack Carver after they were given the assignment by Inspector Montagu Barnes.

Flo and George Cubbins would continually show mutual interest and care in a subtle manner. The two agreed to go out together at the end.

Characteristics[]

Personality[]

Flo Bones is generally ill-tempered and of a suspicious nature. She is nevertheless prideful and somewhat good at her job and, like most relic-collectors, possesses a fair amount of talent.

She loves licorice, and often asks for it or is bribed with it in exchange of her services to Lockwood & Co. agency.

Physical Appearance[]

When she is introduced, Flo is described as a tall teenaged girl, half a head taller than Lucy. Her pale skin and scrawny physique are mostly hidden beneath layers of filthy clothes, including a long muddy puffer jacket belted with a rope, a tattered straw hat, and enormous shabby boots. Lockwood once quipped that it had never been conclusively proved that she was actually a girl. Her disheveled and grubby appearance is noted to be all the more apparent in daylight.

Flo has a pale round face with pinkish cheeks, usually smeared with grime, with an upturned nose and a "broad contemptuous mouth." Her hair is likened to old straw in both colour and texture. Apart from her general lack of hygiene, her most often mentioned and distinctive feature is her bright blue eyes.[1][2]

Trivia[]

  • She is the only female relic-man seen within the Lockwood & Co. novels. In the TV series, it is stated explicitly that she is the only one.
