Other-light is the glow that some ghosts emanate. While not necessarily controlled conciously by the apparition itself, it changes with their mood, dimming or flaring brightly. Some weak Type One ghosts appear exclusively as other-light, just a fleck of brightness best seen out of the corner of your eye.[1][2]
Function[]
Other-light is emitted by a ghost's apparition as well as their ghost-fog. This implies that it was a natural glow of ectoplasm, which could change based on the manifestations mood[3]. It is not proven though, and changer's, like the cluster in the red room, did not always emit other-light[4].
Examples[]
Wythburn Mill[]
- Main article: Wythburn Mill Incident
During the Wythburn Mill Incident, Lucy Carlyle was able to see the other-light of the changer[5] morphing it's apparition into a monstrous entity. This morphing seemingly emitted a strong glow of other-light[6], possibly because of the shift in ectoplasm-structure.
Annabel Ward[]
- Main article: Annabel Ward
The ghost of Annabel Ward emitted a constant glow of other-light. The light was similar to that of a weak torch, only to all sides. It was not bright enough to blind or even startle the Agent's of Lockwood & Co.[3].
