Plot[]

The Golden Blade is a mysterious individual encountered by Anthony Lockwood and Lucy Carlyle during the search for the Bone Glass. He fights Lockwood and loses more than once. He appears during Julius Winkman's auction for the bone glass, bidding 500,000 pounds for the glass. When Lockwood then begins a bidding war, he keeps repeatedly upping his bid until Juluis stops the bidding, asking them both to come forward to provide proof of payment.

In their final encounter, The Golden Blade tells Lockwood that he is insignificant, "just like your father and mother were." When Lockwood asks him what it's supposed to mean, he tells him he'll never know, pulling out a gun and firing at him, believing he is leaving him for dead. Lockwood, however, survives the encounter apparently unscathed. The Golden Blade is next seen with Penelope Fittes inside her car. The two commiserate over the loss of the bone glass and she tells him it's okay, so long as it's out of the public domain. She suggests they take extra precautions, telling him to drive on.

Trivia[]

  • The Golden Blade does not appear in any of the Lockwood & Co. novels, but is a new character created for the Netflix television series. His character in some ways seems similar to Rupert Gale from the novels. It is possible that he may, in fact, be Rupert Gale, as the character's true name is not given within Season 1 of Lockwood & Co.
